Tango & Filete

If the emblematic dance of Buenos Aires is tango, then its emblematic art form has to be Filete, and it’s therefore no surprise that the two are so closely linked. Both evolved in the late 19th century from working class areas in the south of the city (La Boca & San Telmo respectively) and it wasn’t long before Filete was adorning the places that tango was being performed. Below are some examples of tango-related (and more specifically Carlos Gardel) works that we see on the tour in Abasto. Click on the images to enlarge.
