Feria de Mataderos

It’s not on everybody’s list and it takes a little bit of effort to get there, but once you’ve got your cheap flight to Buenos Aires a visit to the weekly Feria de Mataderos in Buenos Aires is a truly different day out. Situated in the Mataderos district in the southwest of the city, it comprises a wide selection of arts and crafts, but the main draw is the focus on different aspects of Argentine culture and art.

Every week a different discipline is highlighted, from horse riding skills (it’s the Gaucho centre of Buenos Aires), to folklore dancing from the NorthWest of the country or of course, the national favourite Tango.

You can get there by bus or subte & taxi. Either catch the 55 from Plaza Italia or take the subte Line E to the end of the line (Plaza de Virreyes) and grab a cab from outside the station to the Feria.
